Selected highlights from recent idle drifting on the ‘Tube:
- Spent way too much time looking for Dr. Johnny Fever clips from “WKRP in Cincinnati” after the death of Howard Hesseman. Watched a few full episodes, but always came back to this clip of the station’s format change.
- Cheap Trick on “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert” in 1977. Someday, I will make a pilgrimage to Rockford and pray for a Rick Nielsen sighting.
- Bonus Cheap Trick clip: The boys (sans Bun E. Carlos, sadly) visit Daryl Hall.
- I will never hear the song “Surrender” again without thinking of Conan O’Brien.
- Nonstop viewing of David Letterman’s new YouTube channel. Before the channel rolled out (and before I even knew it was coming out), I pored over lots of old clips, particularly an assortment of Top Ten lists.
